A man has been arrested on a farm in Hallington, Lincolnshire following the murder of a woman and her son.
Daniel Boulton, 29, was detained at lunchtime on Tuesday in what detectives described as “a tragic, extraordinary, and worrying set of circumstances”.
The 26-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son – who were both known to Mr Boulton – were stabbed to death at a home in Louth on Monday night.
Another young child was found at the home unhurt, according to Lincolnshire Police.
Police were called to High Holme Road at 8:29pm on Monday by paramedics, where they found the woman and her son dead.

A knife believed to have been used to kill them was found in the home.
Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox said: “No one else was injured at the property. However, another young child was located at the property and was uninjured.
“We understand there is speculation that was child was abducted. This was not the case and the child has been safeguarded.”

In an previous update linked to the investigation on Tuesday, the force said an off-duty officer had been injured in the Hubbard’s Hills area of Louth as police searched for Mr Boulton.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A neighbour who was near to the scene when a man was arrested by police, explained what had happend, saying that the person had been trying to get into the car belonging to another neighbour.
The witness asked to remain anonymous but revealed: “He was hammering on the window of the car saying ‘let me in, let me in’.
“[The other neighbour] is so shook up, she fortunately had the central locking on and managed to drive off before calling police.
“Police found him in one of the farm buildings but they are still looking for something.”
The arrest took place at a farm in Hallington, near Louth with images of the scene showing two officers in high-vis jackets escorting a man into a police van.
The man was without shoes or socks and was wearing tracksuit bottoms with rips below the knee, a black Adidas T-shirt and a Nike jacket.
Officers are continuing to search fields behind the farm buildings, and have begun conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area.
Forensic officers were also spotted the property in High Holme Road on Tuesday, where flowers had been placed outside.
Shane Marshall, 18, and his partner Niamh Ismay, 17, who live on the same street as where the double stabbing happened said that they had heard a baby screaming at around 8pm on Monday, PA reported.
Mr Marshall explained: “We saw armed police and canine units arrive. We didn’t see any action, we just heard a baby screaming.
“Police said they couldn’t tell us much but they said ‘as you can see, it’s very, very serious’.”
Det Ch Supt Cox added in a statement: “This has been a tragic, extraordinary, and worrying set of circumstances in equal measure.
“A woman and child have lost their lives in the most devastating way and I know that their loved ones will be feeling the magnitude of that today and our thoughts go out to them.”
