The 2019/20 Premier League season resumes on Wednesday evening
Manchester City play host to Arsenal as the 2019/20 Premier League season resumes tonight.
The reigning Premier League champions are soon set to lose their crown but will want to hit the ground running nonetheless as they bid to keep Liverpool honest at the top of the table. The Gunners have Champions League qualification on their mind but know a positive result tonight is a must. All eyes will be on the dugouts where Pep Guardiola will meet former assistant Mikel Arteta for the first time.

45 mins: Mustafi brings down Jesus and City have a free kick. De Bruyne chips it into the box but Arsenal defend it easily. Three minutes added on to the end of the first half.

42 mins: A similar move from City. Mahrez squares the ball to De Bruyne who slots the ball into the box to meet Sterling’s run. Sterling attempts to chip the ball over Leno but the shot is too high and it goes over the bar.

39 mins: De Bruyne collects a pass on the edge of the box. Mahrez makes a run into the area from the right and De Bruyne slots the ball to him. Leno comes off his line and blocks Mahrez’s shot. Arsenal’s goalkeeper is having a good game here.

36 mins: Leno saves Arsenal again! City complete a good move as Jesus dinks the ball into the box for David Silva. He opens up the goal with his run and shoots but Leno stops the shot with his left hand. City are growing in confidence and style.

33 mins: Sterling looks to get his goalscoring going again as he cuts inside from the left wing. He shoots and Leno dives low to tip the ball past the post.

30 mins: De Bruyne lines up a shot from range but has it blocked. Nketiah and Garcia come together as Arsenal send a long ball up through the Man City centre-backs. Garcia pulls Nketiah to the ground but the referee plays on.

27 mins: Some slick one-touch passes on Arsenal’s right wing get the Gunners up the pitch. Saka takes the ball past Mendy and curls a pass into the box for Aubameyang that Ederson intercepts.
De Bruyne gives the ball away and Nketiah lays it off for Aubameyang on the edge of the area. He hits it first time and sends the shot wide.

21 mins: Oh. Kyle Walker goes on a great run into the box from the right wing. He runs the ball to the byline and cuts it back into the middle of the box but Jesus lets it run.

18 mins: City hve taken control of the ball and Arsenal have dropped back to defend. Tierney does well to beat Mahrez to a cross field ball and the attack breaks down.

15 mins: Arsenal look sharp going forward. Tierney brings the ball in from the left as Aubameyang goes wide. Tierny passes the ball out ot him and him attempts to cross the ball but Walker blocks it giving away a corner.

12 mins: De Bruyne slots the ball into the left side of the box for Sterling. He tries to square it into the centre but the pass is blocked and Arsenal can break.
Saka crosses the ball into the area from the right, Nketiah receives it but puts the ball wide of goal.

9 mins: Mahrez attempts a ball in behind the defence for Gabriel Jesus who makes the run. The ball skips off the wet surface and out for a goal kick.

6 mins: De Bruyne eyes up the shot, he gets the ball over the wall but Leno palms it over the bar for a corner. Man City play it short and quick but Mahrez is offside as the ball is returned to him.

3 mins: Leno sends the ball up to Nketiah who believed he had the first sight of goal. He chips the ball over Ederson before the whistle is blown for offside.
Mari clatters Sterling to the ground and Man City win a free kick on the edge of Arsenal’s 18-yard box.
“Everything, every protocol, is different, so we have to adapt and find the right motivation. Let’s find out how it goes.”
On David Luiz being left out of the starting XI: “There are a few things that have happened in the last few weeks so I have to pick the team that I think will do well.
“It’s a very emotional game for me obviously but I am very excited. It’s been a tough few months for everybody.”
“We try to play a good game for the few people here and those at home. Of course, after a long injury, it is good that he [Leroy Sane] is back.”
On Mikel Arteta’s return: “We were together for an incredible three and a half years. I learned a lot from him. He is an exceptional person and I wish him all the best.
“We want to win of course. The best players will win. I cannot play unfortunately and he [Arteta] cannot play either, fortunately!”
