Follow live coverage as Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard lead their sides out at Wembley Stadium both hoping to secure their first trophy as managers
Arsenal and Chelsea go head to head in the FA Cup final today, with either Mikel Arteta or Frank Lampard set to leave Wembley Stadium with the first trophy of their managerial career.
Arteta’s Arsenal produced a brilliant performance to eliminate holders Manchester City in the semi-finals, while Lampard’s Chelsea cruised past Manchester United.
The Gunners are bidding to extend their record number of FA Cup triumphs to 14, while the Blues are aiming to lift the trophy for the ninth time in the club’s history. Follow all the live action below:
One more added to Aubameyang’s tally this afternoon.
45+5 min: Pepe’s free kick is headed away, but only to the feet of Bellerin. His shot is charged down by Giroud and Chelsea look to have survived the Arsenal onslaught.
45+1 min: There’ll be five minutes of added time.
45 min: Lacazette strikes the free kick and it flashes wide of the far post.
44 min: Chelsea can’t get out of their own half. Pepe, who’s growing more and more influential, weaves his way towards the edge of the box and draws a foul from Christensen. It’ll be a free kick in a very dangerous position.
42 min: Arsenal are getting closer and closer, ramping up the pressure. This time a corner drops in the box and the ball is played into the feet of Pepe. His finish is blocked, crucially, by Christensen.
41 min: Again, Pepe crosses from the right, curling a ball towards the back post with his left foot. Maintland-Niles is there to meet it behind a flailing Caballero. His header deflects behind for a corner.
40 min: Arsenal are just probing, menacingly, without creating a clear cut chance late in the half. Some questionable Chelsea defending allows Pepe to cross from the right, picking out the head of Aubameyang, who nods it across for Lacazette. He’s beaten to the ball in the air, but Arsenal are asking all the questions as we approach half-time.
38 min: Nearly for Pepe as he links up with Bellerin on the right but can’t quite squeeze a pass through the gap to Lacazette, waiting in the box. This is a very open game at the moment.
36 min: Alonso picks out Mount with a prodded through ball. The youngster looks to work some space to shoot in the box, but he’s held up and instead plays a pass towards the edge of the box. Jorginho is there to hit it, only able to skew an effort over the bar.
32 min: Now Azpilicueta is down, clutching the back of his left thigh. Chelsea will hope it’s not a hamstring injury.
30 min: Giroud is down after an aerial challenge with Luiz. The Frenchman needs some attention from the physios.
29 min: As seems to happen so often now, the drinks break has changed the trajectory of the game. Arsenal have been much better since and are now right back in this final.
27 min: A quick VAR check confirms that Aubameyang was fouled just inside the area. No prizes for guessing who’ll take it…
25 min: Arsenal score! But the flag is up. Maitland-Niles plays the ball on to Aubameyang, who in turn finds Pepe to his right. The latter strikes it first time, curling the ball superbly into the top corner from the edge of the box. Maitland-Niles, though, was offside earlier in the move.
