Follow live coverage as the fixture list for the 2020/21 Premier League is revealed.
Liverpool took home the title last season for the first time in 30 years with 2018/19 champions Manchester City forced to concede defeat in second place. Manchester United returned to the top four under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and will hope to challenge right at the top end this time around while Chelsea rounded out the top four after an impressive first season under Frank Lampard. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to get back amongst it too and all will be keen to see how their schedules begin and, more importantly, finish with every point precious.
At the other end of the table, Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham are back in the big time and will want to know who they will begin life back in the top flight against. Their end-of-season run-ins are likely to be just as important as they look to stay there. We’ll have all the build-up and the all-important reveal at 9am as well as all the key analysis. Follow it all right here:
Nott Forest 1-2 West Brom
West Brom 1-1 Millwall
Luton 1-2 West Brom
West Brom 1-1 Reading
Derby 1-1 West Brom
West Brom 3-2 Blackburn
It was a somewhat patchy start – despite no defeats – but in the end Slaven Bilic’s side finished 2nd, securing automatic promotion to the top flight.
Bristol City 1-3 Leeds
Leeds 1-1 Nott Forest
Wigan 0-2 Leeds
Leeds 1-0 Brentford
Stoke 0-3 Leeds
Marcelo Bielsa’s team ultimately finished as champions.
Here’s how each started the previous campaign…
We’re just over 30 minutes away from the full fixture list!
Like City’s only other draw of the season, those games ended 2-2.
Wolves (x2), Liverpool, Man United (x2), Tottenham, Chelsea and Southampton all beat City as they failed to retain their crown.
And here’s how things looked for the league’s runners-up Man City:
West Ham 0-5 Man City
Man City 2-2 Tottenham
Bournemouth 1-3 Man City
Man City 4-0 Brighton
Norwich 3-2 Man City
Man City 8-0 Watford
Here’s how their season began:
Liverpool 4-1 Norwich
Norwich 3-1 Newcastle
Norwich 2-3 Chelsea
West Ham 2-0 Norwich
Norwich 3-2 Man City
After that upset win over Man City, the Canaries won just three more times: away against Everton, then at home to Bournemouth and Leicester.
They lost every single game after the restart.
In that entire run, they only drew once – 1-1 at rivals Manchester United in October – before being upset by (eventually relegated) Watford 3-0 on that day in February.
Thereafter, they lost twice more – at Man City and Arsenal – and drew twice more – at Everton and home to Burnley. All four results came after the Premier League’s restart in the spring.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were undefeated at Anfield in the league.
Here’s how the Reds started last season:
Liverpool 4-1 Norwich
Southampton 1-2 Liverpool
Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal
Burnley 0-3 Liverpool
Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle
Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool
Fans of Leeds, West Brom and Fulham will be particularly excited to see their teams’ fixture lists, following the clubs’ respective promotions to the Premier League this year.
The full list of games for the upcoming term will be released at 9am BST.
Fixtures for the coming Premier League season will be dropping shortly, with the new campaign set to begin on 12 September.
