England beat Hungary 4-0 in Budapest to make it four wins from four in their World Cup 2022 qualifying group.

Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham were racially abused by Hungary fans during England’s World Cup qualifier in the Puskas Stadium in Budapest on Thursday evening, it has been reported.

Fantastic performance from England. Professional and clinical all night in face of the abuse coming at them from the Hungarian ultras. They responded on the pitch, went up a gear in the second half and blew Hungary away.

90+2 mins: England travel to Budapest and come away with all three points. They were patient in the first half but as soon as Raheem Sterling broke the deadlock in the second half the floodgates opened. England scored four goals but could easily have had seven or eight if they’d taken their best chances. Harry Kane should have had a hat-trick but settles for one goal. Harry Maguire and Declan Rice also scored to give England a five point lead in Group I.

90 mins: Jordan Henderson and Bukayo Saka are given a run out by Gareth Southgate. Declan Rice and Jack Grealish are off. Two minutes of added time to play.

87 mins: Oh no! Shocker from Gulacsi. Declan Rice starts the move with a good pass into Grealish on the right side of the box. Grealish weaves, dribbles and shimmies looking for space to shoot. He doesn’t find any so passes it back to Rice on the front edge of the box. Rice hits one straight at the goalkeeper but Gulacsi misses the ball as he falls to ground and the ball sneaks underneath to give England a fourth!

84 mins: ITV have just reported that some Hungarian fans have been directing racist chants towards Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham who has been warming up on the sidelines. Just another example of the horrendous behaviour from the home crowd tonight and it’s the worst offence of the lot.

Jesse Lingard comes on for England for the final few minutes with Mason Mount coming off.

81 mins: Hungary want a penalty! Varga plays the ball into the box from the right wing and almost finds Salloi but Maguire gets in front of his man and wins possession. Salloi goes down but the referee waves play on.

78 mins: The ball comes over the top as Sterling breaks in behind. He shimmies away from the goalkeeper before sending the ball towards the back corner. Gulacsi is up quickly and manages to jump in front of the ball to deny Sterling a second! The replays show Sterling was offside though so it wouldn’t have counted but it’s a good save nonetheless.

75 mins: Varga does try to create something for Hungary. He takes up position on the right wing and runs the ball at Shaw. His fresh legs and sharp pace allows him to shift the ball past the England left-back and work it into the middle of the box where Pickford scoops up the ball for his third or maybe fourth touch of the night. It isn’t much more than that.
